Main Condition Issue: The atlases had been previously treated in 1986 when they were guarded, resewn, and mended. The mends had been done using pre-coated tissues and some of them had either partially or completely popped off. New tears on the covers and in the textblocks had also formed.
Treatment Summary: Previous repairs that were partially detached and still supporting the covers were readhered with wheat starch paste. New mends applied to the covers were made with toned RK0 and usui usimino tissues. Mends in the textblock were done with a combination of remoistenable tissue (RK0 coated with a mix of methylcellulose and wheat starch paste) and Korean 1203 tissue adhered with wheat starch paste.
