About Laura
As the daughter of an archivist, I learned at an early age the importance of preserving our library and archival collections. Once I decided to pursue conservation (there was a time when I majored in math and considered a career in the intelligence field), I felt drawn, perhaps instinctively, to archival and library materials.

I completed pre-program internships at the American Philosophical Society, Library of Congress, National Library of Medicine, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. I learned from paper, book, paintings, wooden artifacts, photograph, and object conservators. This wide range of experiences prepared me for encountering the multitude of types of materials that can be found in library and archival collections.

I completed a graduate summer internship in the Conservation Department in the Sheridan Libraries at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. I'm pleased to be returning there as a post-graduate fellow, an opportunity generously funded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two dogs, Hendrix and Adelaide; reading; watching all versions of Star Trek; going to hockey and baseball games; visiting tiki-themed establishments; cross-stitching; and trying new recipes in the kitchen.
